How to Make Engraved Text on Gimp

1. Create a new image and fill the background layer with brown.
Click the image to open in full size.

2. Select the text tool and type in some text. You can use whichever font you want, but make the color of the text white.

3. Right click on the text layer and click on"Alpha to selection".

4. Click on the background layer to which we will apply the text to, then go to "Filters>Map>Bump Map" and apply the same settings as shown in the screenshot.

5. Once you have all the settings, click ok. Then deselect the selection by going to "Select>None". Now, delete your text layer.


Here is what your final result should look like:
